Upward
Upward Sports is a first-class sports experience that emphasizes healthy competition, sportsmanship, skill building and fun. We would love to have you on our team! Check out the various volunteer opportunities on the Upward web page.
D6 Beginnings
D6 Beginnings focuses on the care and development of children ages 0-3. Teams of coaches, teachers and classroom volunteers work hard each weekend and Wednesday evening to provide quality programming and care for our youngest Cornerstone kids.
Infants and Toddlers
The schedule for babies through toddlers is largely determined by the needs of the children in the room. Team members will provide an environment where children are completely safe and can become involved in and learn about what interests them according to their own developmental levels. Teachers will follow a child’s lead while incorporating their own creativity.
Twos and Threes
The two and three-year-olds follow a curriculum that has been developed specifically for their age group and developmental level. Memory verses, activities and songs will be incorporated to allow children to learn beginning Bible stories.
D6 Basics
D6 Basics is for children in Pre-K (age 4) through 5th grade. The children’s ministry coordinators work closely with teachers and parents to provide a safe, creative learning environment to teach God’s truth to His kids.
Pre-K through 2nd Grade (Weekends)
These young elementary students attend D6 Weekends during Cornerstone Church worship services. D6 Weekends provides an age appropriate learning environment where the students are led in games, songs, activities and Bible learning by qualified teachers who desire to share the love of Christ with young children.
Pre-K through 5th Grade (D6 Wednesdays)
D6 Wednesdays is the foundation of the D6 Family Ministry. Each Wednesday night, kids gather in age-graded classrooms to discover the vastness of God through His Word. The one-hour long class time includes large group teaching time, as well as small group activities and discussions. Finally, kids and parents gather together in the auditorium for high energy worship and an entertaining recap of the evening.
D6 Parents
D6 Wednesdays is not only for kids, but for their parents, as well. This is not a drop-and-go ministry! While children are in their classes, parents stay for equipping and encouragement in raising children to know and love God. At the end of each evening, parents reconnect with their kids for a corporate time of high energy worship and recap. Parents are also a vital part of the serving team that works to make D6 happen each Wednesday and weekend.
Equipping
Each Wednesday night, while their kids are learning God’s truth in D6 Beginnings and Basics classes, parents of D6 kids participate in a teaching time designed specifically for them. Cornerstone pastors and leaders will guide moms and dads through practical ideas on how to incorporate God’s Word and ways into everyday life.
So You’re Expecting
Each spring, D6 Family Ministry offers a 6-8 week course for expecting parents. Scott and Joy Andrews walk parents through how to successfully maneuver through those early years while laying a foundation for faith.
Parenting Preschoolers
Each fall, D6 Family Ministry offers a 6-8 week class specifically designed for parents of preschoolers. Scott and Joy Andrews guide parents through everything from personality analysis to practical tips for discipline. The series is capped off by a Q&A night with a panel of parents who have “been there”.
Parenting Teens
During the school year, parents of teens gather each Wednesday at 6:30 under the leadership of Roger Wheeler. This is a valuable time of study and interaction, as parents discuss how to be the influence God wants them to be during these exciting (and yes, fun!) years.
Serving
D6 Family Ministry depends on volunteers to function, and many of those volunteers are parents. Parents are especially relied upon for help during weekend services. We ask any parent who has decided to make Cornerstone Church their home church and whose child regularly attends a weekend class to serve in their child’s classroom. Parents select two services each quarter to serve as classroom helpers, assisting the regular weekly teachers. To become a parent volunteer, please sign-up at the D6 Desk or Contact Us.
